From gardens to golf courses, we cover a lot of ground
Since 1997, we’ve been guiding customers and producing grass seed mixes for back gardens and sports fields to farms and country estates. Each year, we produce and process around 2,000 tons of seeds at our premises in East Yorkshire, enough to cover 100,000 acres of land.
Our grass and wildflower seed products are available to buy in our online shop, in bulk quantities at heavily discounted prices, and wholesale to retailers. We can also mix seed to your specification and package it in your own branded packs ready for sale.

A family business grown from the ground up
Chris Hoff, set up Greenland Seeds in 1997. After two decades working in the agricultural seed trade, he headed back to his roots in Yorkshire to start the business. Ewan joined the team shortly after, and is, to this day, one of our most knowledgeable seed experts. In 2014, Chris’s son Mike took over the managerial ropes, and the following year, his daughter Nic joined to manage the busy office and finances.
The business has grown from 3 staff members working out of a small premises, to a 12-strong team processing and blending over 150 species of grasses, wildflowers, herbs and legumes through our 5 mixing lines in East Yorkshire.

All our grass seed is certified by Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) which means you are buying quality seed from a trustworthy source. Our premises are inspected every year to ensure our seeds meet the germination, purity and traceability standards set by the Plant Health and Seeds Inspectorate (PHSI).
Tackling the decline of pollinators in the UK
Pollinators are essential for the biodiversity of our planet and are integral to the production of food. Unfortunately, many pollinators including bees, moths and hoverflies are in decline here in the UK, mainly due to loss of habitat and climate change.
Our wildflower mixes include plant species that are identified by the RHS as important for pollinators. By growing Perfect For Pollinators wildflowers, whether it be a small area of a garden or acres of meadow, we can help pollinators to thrive.
As well as supplying RHS Plants For Pollinators species in our wildflower packs, we are a leading supplier of stewardship mixtures for farming and land management schemes.
